This lifestyle family session I did recently was seriously SO, SO stinking cute!! I LOOOOOVED that mommy wanted to capture quintessential “Chicago” and do the shoot downtown. So we decided on The Bean (Cloudgate) and nearby Lurie Gardens, even though every day of the summer is our tourist season, and there would inevitably be people in the background. But that’s the beauty of these locations, and it definitely gives you the vibe of our scene. (Thank goodness we did this shoot on a weekday- can you imagine how busy it would be here on a weekend?!!) Busy, bustling, Chicago! (I do greedily wish that I could’ve cleared the scene with a big ‘ol bullhorn though…)
So this pretty Korean mama wanted to get updated family images to include her adorable son, because they’re going to Korea soon. And to celebrate his Korean ‘dol‘, which is a pretty big deal in Korean culture. I think I surprised this family with my Korean roots and background- because I totally busted out my less than stellar Korean speaking skills, including the one or two nursery rhyme songs I remembered my own Korean mother sang to me as a little girl. (I guess all those years of going to Korean Language School on Saturdays paid off!)
In the end, I just adore the fact that we were able to compile a group of amazing images that just capture the joy, essence of childhood, split second sibling moments, and a little bit of romance all mixed into one session. All of this is what I aim to include in every single family lifestyle session I do!
Here are some of my favorite highlights of our family session together. Hope you enjoy! 🙂
This next one reminds me a classic Korean love story drama series…
