I originally met this BEAUTIFUL Chicago family because they’re my friends’ next door neighbors, and we all happen to take our children to the same preschool. I was incredibly honored to have the opportunity to photograph their family during this exciting time in their lives: BABY #2.
I can’t believe little darling Beatrice is going to be a BIG SISTER– she already loves playing with her little baby dolls, so I just know she’ll be a natural nurturer! 😉
This gorgeous mama-to-be has some serious style. She came on set with beautiful wardrobe options that really had complementary a bohemian chic theme: just PERFECT for their spring baby that they are expecting!
Family is everything.
Psssst… and btw, MATERNITY PHOTOGRAPHY MATTERS.
I know many expecting mamas hesitate to capture this time in their lives for one reason or another, but I promise you- it’s important. I know, because I was one of those skeptics and NEVER did a formal maternity session myself! I know, I know… I should know better. We were ‘busy’ (who isn’t?!). I’m full of regrets over here because I can tell you from personal experience- you will soon forget your round belly and the excitement from the anticipation you get from expecting a baby. Plus, how sweet would it be to show your future little one that the cute baby belly you’re sporting was him/her in there?! (It’s part of the reason I’ve been actively participating in a new personal project this year to GET IN THE FRAME. Weekly, one image for every week of the year, #p52radness. All of my comrades are just incredible and we are in such a motivating community!)
When your little mini-me approves your wardrobe choice for your maternity session… 😉
One of my favorite things to do when I visit back home in Virginia is to sift through my parents’ old family albums. I just love seeing all of the old photographs, and to remember what my own mother looked like decades ago. I can’t wait to show my own daughter important family stories that we’ve documented along the way.
