When one of your best girlfriends says she needs her gal pals on her last hurrah retreat before her baby boy number THREE arrives, you quickly book your flight and pack your bags and head to the safest Zika-free sunny place with relaxation on our mind: Scottsdale, Arizona. Itinerary details included spa services, new restaurants, sitting around the fire pit at night, hikes with cacti (and getting cactus hair-like thorns stuck through my Lulu leggings!), oh- and a much needed spray tan! (Let’s be honest. We live in Chicago. So we are just a bit vitamin-D deprived!)
My friend Diana had already commissioned me for a few photography sessions, but I told her it would be a great idea to do her maternity session portion in Scottsdale since we would be there in a more relaxed state of mind, and more importantly- both of us TODDLER FREE! Don’t get us wrong. We both LOVE-LOVE-LOVE our babies, but I always preach that mommies need a little self-care because: You can’t pour from an EMPTY cup. Take care of yourself FIRST.
