It’s this time of year that I get a lot of frantic email requests, text messages, and Instagram DM’s about fall and holiday sessions. I get a lot of questions asking about the differences and details involving my Simple Sessions and my ‘regular’ Signature Lifestyle Sessions, so I thought I’d put this together for you to help you determine which session type is best for your family:
WHICH IS BEST FOR YOU?
Signature
Signature Sessions are typically an hour +, allowing plenty o’ time for a warm-up period, candid moments, location changes, detail shots, and overall flexibility.
Simple
Simple Sessions are speedy yet efficient fixed time slot. Think rapid-fire family reunion minis with more posing.
TIMING
Signature Sessions are great for families that are slow to warm up to the camera, really shy children, or for those who crave multiple outfits, locations, and more variety of portraits in their finished gallery. Most often, I find that by the end of the session, my client families forget that my camera is there and we tend to make my favorite moments towards the end (and I’m doing mental cartwheels ♀️)!
Since Simple Sessions are such a short timeline, I prioritize the ‘everyone-looking-at-the-camera-smiling’ shots, and all the typical ‘must-have’ shots: i.e. sibling portraits, mom + baby, dad + baby, etc. If everyone is cooperating well , then OF COURSE I’m all for getting the fun extras I’m more known for- the candids!
LOCATION
Signature
Since Signature lifestyle sessions are fully custom, I work with each family to plan the perfect scene that best suits your family’s personality or the look you’re going for. Includes in-home sessions (great for kids with inflexible nap schedules) or an urban family feel, the options are endless!
Simple
Simple Sessions are held at ONE fixed, (yet versatile) location. Outdoor dates are extremely limited. These short photo shoots are great for quick updated portraits for holiday cards or gift prints for extended family!

Each Signature Session requires a non-refundable $250 session fee at the time of booking. This fee guarantees your session date and time, and does not include any products- either print or digital.
